FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How much does it cost?

Depending on new patient exams, which treatment you are getting, there are different fees. We do have care plans and massage packages to help you afford the ongoing care and maintenance that you might need. Please give us a call at 918-259-3000.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we do. We are providers for Aetna, United Healthcare, Healthchoice, Global, Community Care, Medicare and a variety of other insurances. We can verify your insurance when you contact us.

I’ve tried other providers and treatments for my problem with limited results, how can ZOVA help?

This is not unusual. Many of our patients come to us after trying a lot of different options from physical therapy, other chiropractic, orthopedics to self-YouTube care. We listen, find out goals, perform a full musculoskeletal examination, check muscle strength, functional movement patterns and find a way to get you back to where you want to be. We use quite a variety of conservative treatment methods and devices as well as rehab techniques that we have found work on specialized cases. If necessary, we know many other healthcare providers who we can refer to if it’s a case that needs different treatment.

Do ZOVA providers treat more than athletes?

Yes, we sure do! Although we are known for our quick outcomes for patients that need to get back out on the field, get ready for their marathon or back into competition, we treat from the young to the old. You might find that we are helping a child with rib soreness from coughing to a grandmother who just finished traveling with her grandkids to a CrossFit competitor competing in Open to a marathon runner getting ready for Boston. We do body work. That might involve heel pain but it also might involve sinus pressure points. Each patient is different, so we take a different approach to everyone.

Do you treat kids or seniors?

Similar to the above question, yes, we do. We treat patients of all ages. The techniques, precautions and care are different. Typically, children respond well to instrument adjusting, soft tissue mobilization, and rehab strengthening and balance exercises. Sometimes asthma causes restriction in the rib cage, so we can address that. Sometimes allergies cause sinus pressure points or tight neck muscles, so we can address those. Seniors might have a new or chronic problem that needs addressed to keep active. Each case is addressed specifically for the individual.

How many times will I have to come in for treatment?

Depending on the treatment method, condition, and how long you have had your issue are all factors in determining the number of sessions. Just like you don’t eat diet food once to lose weight or lift weights once to gain muscle mass, the body is not fixed in just one session. However, many times people do leave with their pain significantly reduced from just their first session. And a few are almost fully recovered in just a few visits. Most of our treatment plans are fewer visits than national averages due to improved response from our combination ZOVA treatment protocols. Our initial treatment plans are commonly 8 visits. We are results oriented and will work with you on self-care to maximize your recovery, so lasting changes are made and integrated into your body.

How are ZOVA providers different than other chiropractors, physical therapists and massage therapists?

We are constantly learning new and better methods to help get patients better faster. The great combination of assessment and treatment methods help our practitioners provide a wide variety of conservative care. We do a lot of work not just on the spine but on extremities and muscles.

Is treatment at ZOVA an affordable option?

Our approach to care helps resolve injuries and conditions quickly, and helps our patients avoid costly rehab, imaging like MRIs, surgeries and other procedures. So choosing a ZOVA provider is affordable, even for patients with high deductibles or no insurance at all. If you have fewer visits with good results, the savings can be substantial from other options like surgery, MRIs, prescriptions, physical therapy and year-long chiropractic plans.

Will an adjustment hurt?

An adjustment is just one but key tools we use to help patients get better. An adjustment shouldn’t cause sharp or stabbing pain. When an area is sore or achy, there might be some soreness or achiness that one would expect from touching that area. Our overall goal is to reduce pain not create more of it. We evaluate how someone is responding or feeling throughout treatment.

Are you just cracking my spine?

Depending on the case, we use methods to move a joint by hand. Certain joints are more prone to making noise when moved. Examples of these are knuckle joints. The noise comes from dissolved gas in the joint fluid being released suddenly from a pressure change similar to the noise that a champagne cork makes when released. The bone itself is not being cracked. We use a variety of techniques, a lot without popping or cracking, so if you are squeamish about popping or cracking let us know.

Do you do Activator, upper cervical or any other low force technique?

We use an Arthrostim which is similar to an Activator but with better pressure feel. We also do a variety of upper cervical and low force techniques depending on the patient and situation.

Does acupuncture hurt?

A lot of people are surprised how little acupuncture hurts. However, certain points might be more sensitive than others depending on the condition and can have pain associated with that point. We always try to gauge how a person is reacting during acupuncture treatment and modify it accordingly.

What kind of acupuncture do you do?

We use several different types. One is quick with a Pointer Pulse which is a needle-free device which uses electrostim and laser. We also use traditional acupuncture based on proven formulas and acupuncture diagnosis. We do dry needling which is a modern approach to muscle, joint and nerve pain. We also practice auriculotherapy which is ear acupuncture commonly used for smoking cessation and weight loss.

What should I expect when making a massage therapy or other bodywork appointment?

You can expect professional care and to be very relaxed. It is good to come clean and hydrated. Show up early to receive your full appointment time. After a session, due to the release of toxins, we recommend drinking more water than normal. You might experience soreness in muscles that had been very tight, so just replenish electrolytes, hydrate, stretch and relax. A good massage goes a long way. Craniosacral and other modalities work directly with the central nervous system, which continues to reorganize for two days and up to a month on your behalf. We don’t recommend heavy workouts or strenuous exercise right after a session. Give the body time to readjust to the new you.

Do I have to get naked for massage therapy?

Massage is done directly on the skin, so disrobing is preferred, but you can choose not to. A sheet is appropriately draped, and the area being worked on is the only area uncovered. Craniosacral does not require disrobing, and if that is the whole session, then clothes remain on minus any clunky belts or shoes that would cause you to not fully relax on the table.

Cancellation Policy

Due to the nature of our clinic’s one-on-one treatment, any last-minute cancellations or missed appointments can prevent another patient from getting much needed treatment. To better utilize appointment times for all patients in need of care we have the following policy: If an appointment is cancelled or rescheduled within 24 hours of the appointment time, the fee is 50% of the scheduled treatment. If the appointment is completely missed (no-show), the fee is 100% of the scheduled treatment.
